I'm pleased about the election results. Despite all my pessimism it was on my mind a lot, so it was a pleasant surprise this morning.

Farewell beautiful orange fuzzy silly purry beast

Remember that sleazy "If I Did It" book OJ Simpson was going to publish about how a hypothetical double murder might have hypothetically occurred?

The family of Ron Goldman has purchased the rights to O.J. Simpson's canceled book, "If I Did It," from a court-appointed bankruptcy trustee in a settlement reached Monday.

The book rights will be held in the name of Ron Goldman LLC, Goldman family attorney David Cook said.

Goldman was slain along with Simpson's ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, in 1994. The former football star has maintained his innocence. He was acquitted of murder, but Goldman's family won a civil wrongful death case against him now totaling more than $33 million.

"Ron Goldman LLC will own Simpson's name, likeness, signature and story and will hawk it to satisfy this terrible judgment. Justice has arrived in Miami," Cook said.

The Goldmans own the copyright, media rights and movie rights. They also acquired Simpson's name, likeness, life story and right of publicity in connection with the book, according to court documents.

The Goldmans want to rename the book "Confessions of a Double Murderer" and plan to shop it around, Cook said

The news reached me, and I was momentarily quite sad, and then...

..then the old question came up - if THAT amount of money is put into restoring a ship that only gets worse every passing year, why not invest in a replica? It could be near-exact (allowing for new safety legislation) and it could actually SAIL. Since I'm a firm believer in sail training and sail learning being in the doing, not the walking around on a lifeless hull, I really wish that the PTB would allow Cutty to rest and build a replica to honour it instead.

Maybe it helps that I'm so aware of the financial struggle of the Tall Ship Youth Trust, which does very good work, but has a lot of trouble maintaining its ships. Ships are basically holes in the sea where you pour money into to keep them floating...

Brother got married on thursday... he and Marijke both looked gorgeous and very happy and it was a lovely day. The weather helped with its spectacularness. You couldn't have ordered it better.

It's still like that today - predicted to hit a staggering 26 degrees. Ridiculous for April.

8 days until I go to Vejer. Guess there's a few things I need to do before then... Uni is all closed off until after summer though. That feels really strange.

Here's the requisite amount of AYEEEfloofypupppyCYOOOT! for today.
