Laptop Eek

At some point about a year ago a crack appeared in the screen casing of my laptop, next to the hinge. This worried me, and I stuck McGyver tape over it, because I didn't know what else to do.
At some point a couple of months ago a crack also appeared on the right side, and that freaked me, but I still didn't know what to do. Experience learns that 'laptop repair' usually doesn't mean 'We'll splint the screen for you'.

Now the left side is really bad, and I could do with some input about fixing it or at least stopping it from getting worse. I love my laptop and want it to be with me for a while yet!
