Slept like a log..

..last night. From 8:30 pm to sometime this morning. Haven't slept this well since the sailtrip.
So how came? Competition yesterday. Endurance Kootwijkerbroek, and I couldn't be more proud of Rowan. 35 kilometres (we are growing into these distances because it certainly didn't feel like very far) and a speed of 13 km/hr flat. Would have been good for a top-3 placing had not the heartrate skyrocketed when we turned the corner to the finish - you can see the trailerparking from there and all the noise and horses pushed his HR to 68.
We got 10 minutes to get it below 60 and that was how we missed out on our high placing, because those 10 minutes are added to riding time. At the decisive check it was 48, so it had definitely been excitement.
Average speed of 12.281 and placing 21st. I AM proud, Rowan came through like a steamloc. He starts, and he doesn't stop, not even when I wobble or try to work the cramp out of my knee or sit sideways to look at a map or things like that. He drank well, trotted well for the vet (2 As, very good for him) and behaved very well indeed. I'm just also a bit annoyed with those extra 10 minutes after we had done so amazingly well.
Anyway, I am now allowed to start class 2, though we won't be doing that for a while yet. Maybe end of the 05 season, if all continues to go well.
