Just finished reading 'One for the Money' by Janet Evanovich.. picked it up in an ASDA in Newcastle thinking 'How good can it be for 1.63 UKP? On the other hand, no money lost if it sucks'
Turned out to be a rather nice book, even if the first-person is a bit weird and she waffles on in detail too much at times.
(I tend to slow down when action is about to come up, so a detailed description of entering a building, going up to the door, opening the door, taking off coat, looking around in the room... makes me mentally prepare for the intruder to pop out from behind the couch. In this book she does it a lot even when there's no build-up to something more dramatic than the character having a beer and going to bed.)
Thing is there's a whole bunch of them and now I want to read them all... might have to spend some cash on Amazon. Unless someone knows if books 2 and further are also somewhere on the cheapo in some big UK chain store? I'd pay for books and postage and owe you a drink.
