Fluffball update
Dec. 19th, 2006 03:33 pmMy dearest powneykins 'Fluffball' also known as 'Rowan', moved house this last friday. The new place has an indoor arena, which is not a place I plan to spend all that much time in (we find riding in an arena downright boring) but is very nice to have available in winter.
I had been a bit nervous about settling in, more for myself than for him, but so far we both seem to be doing fine. He's gotten over his "Um.. help?" phase where he looked worried and lost and glued himself to my side. Yesterday he was turned out with his group for the first time. 9 horses all together, and I had thought there would be some uproar with his first entry, but it was a big non-event. He cantered in, looked around, spotted the only Icelandic horse in the group, and walked up to it. There was a mutual shriek of outraged "How dare you!" and then they happily settled in to graze together. I think he pulled some "I'm not a doormat" faces at the other horses but no big confrontations.
The yard owner couldn't believe it was quite that simple, so she stayed to watch for a while and went back a bunch of times, but that was it. Then today I happened to drop by around when they went out, but it was just the same. No uproar. No running. He rolled first, then went straight to the Icelandic horse and that was it.
