I've raved about sailing, wittered about it, longed for it, etc etc. Now I'm telling other people to go do it. Because it's the most awesomest adventure holiday type thing you can imagine, and because two ships that are rather dear to me can really use the support.
The Tall Ships Youth Trust does okay getting its voyages full over summer, but the winter tends to be a problem. This means discounted trips because they need a certain amount of people to sail at all.

This gives YOU an excellent opportunity to try a voyage for not-much-money-at-all. There is a ship in the Med and one around the UK at the moment. Go. Sail.

I'd love to feel firsthand what sailing on a tall ship is like. I'd make a lousy sailor, but one day...

Maybe next year.

Hi!
I'm from Russia and I'm fond of sailing. Next two months I'll spend in France. May be you know the same opportunities in France? Or any links where I can find information about tall ship sailing in France...
Thanks in advance!
Mary

Hiya,
I only know about one French ship and I don't think you can just book on it... it's a training ship. However, any sailing from France is likely to happen in the Bay of Biscay/channel/North Sea and so is sailing from England... so why don't you look into sailing with the TSYT? There are cheap ways to get to the UK if the starting ports are there. Eurostar and Easyjet etc have lowered that hurdle for us.

Cheers,
Arwen

What she said!! You need no experience at any sort of sailing - all that is required is a degree of enthusiasm. :)

Eledhwen, wishing she had holiday left but who has run out ...

I'm hoping my papers will come through shortly so I can get the volunteer process started - with any lucky there'll be a vacancy sometime around Christmas/New Year, before I do the transat.

Man, cool photo. I miss being back out there. (I spent six weeks as a deckhand aboard a 136' brigantine working the Western Atlantic and Caribbean, and it was the best thing I've ever done.) Thanks for the nostalgia. :)

Right. With any luck they aren't completely booked up, and I will be sailing on the PW378, PW381, or PW383!

(of course, I was kept busy with meetings & talks all day today, so I couldn't call them before they'd closed for the weekend. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed until Monday)

In fact, PW378 (London - Southampton, 27-11 -- 01-12) it is. Yay!

(and will do).
