Assembly line dreams, fiction and meme
Aug. 11th, 2004 05:05 pmI work in a factory. At an assembly line type thing. Packets of - of all things - baby wipes approach me at a steady pace from the left, whereupon I take them, turn them, take a loose bit off, and put them on another belt.
I do this all day.
I do it all night too, because the freaking things are appearing in a restless sort of dream in which more and more packets approach me and I just can't keep up...
I hate this. It's bad enough by day without having my sleep taken up by the stupid things...
In other news, I am writing a bit again. Wrote Stowaway chapter 20 (go me!) and the muses are a bit unfocussed about where we're going now. I suspect it might be LotR, though I'll try to finish Stowaway first.
Oh yeah, and here's the largely correct meme...

What Kind of Drunk Are You?

Date: 2004-08-11 04:18 pm (UTC)But sometimes, there are boats carrying synthetic fertilizer, ammonium nitrate, to unload. It comes in big white plastic sacks, 500kg each IIRC. The last few times, I've been on board, where I have an unrivalled view of this great landscape of round white bags.
After a couple of hours, I see this ab-so-lute-ly beautiful vista every time I shut my eyes.
Luckily, I haven't done that this summer. But sometimes, albeit more rarely, the noise of the cranes haunts my sleep as well. If I've been really tired and it's been a long day loading timber, f'rinstance, with overtime and all, then my bed's shaking.
I really do much prefer loading lorry containers with dry milk (25-kg bags). It's very much like going to the gym and lifting weights, only you're paid. And it's probably what I'll be doing tomorrow. [checks time] Make that today... g'night.
(Oh, and I'm apparently a Philosophical Drunk too. I've never been drunk, thus far, but it's nice to know!)
