A virtual hug seems so insufficient, but what else do I have?
For what it might be worth, my father has had several operations for hernia -- the repeats were mostly due, I suspect, to his utter inability to take it easy. At the last op, they put in some kind of webbing to keep things in place (which I believe was a new technique at the time, but should be standard practice now), and more than ten years later he's still steaming away at his usual pace, with no ill effects.
*hug*
