My Powney again...
Aug. 20th, 2004 05:54 pmWent for a ride this morning and my parents came to make a few photos of us training...
Rowan seeing my mum standing by the roadside.. (she's our endurance groom so her standing by the side of the road generally means rest + drink + treats + sloshbottles to Rowan, hence his enthusiasm)

Stretching out for a gallop..

Small dispute over who gets to pick the gait...

"So there I want the swimming pool and there we'll have the villa"
(no idea what I'm doing but the horse looks pwetty)

Coat back on and off we go :)

Date: 2004-08-21 11:02 am (UTC)And it's a purebred Welsh Cob, though not a very typical one. He's the sport-bred line of Cobs, and we clipped his feathers because he had a wound and missing one 'sock' looked silly.
Handsome pair!
Date: 2004-08-21 10:32 am (UTC)Oh, I've not seen your boy before - he's beautiful. I really like the way he's built, balanced and with an alert but not giddy headset. And I love your hands - I should keep my hands that low all the time. (Or that's how it looks to me, I'm certainly no expert, LOL!) :-) Anywho, you two are a very handsome pair and you've made me homesick for riding, just looking!
I'll second Isabeau's question: what's his breeding? :-)
Thanks for sharing these, it was a pleasure for my horse-lover's eyes.
Cheers ~

Date: 2004-08-21 11:06 am (UTC)I like his face too, he can be very expressive, usually comically so. Whenever I approach with the clippers he gets this sceptical look of "Hmm, now I'm not so sure about that, you know" that always makes me think of a cartoon horse :-) And he has this little-boy look about him sometimes. Always looking for trouble..
Re: Handsome pair!
Date: 2004-08-21 06:45 pm (UTC)Welsh Cob is he! Okay, that explains the good bone and the slight crest to his neck when his head is tucked. Plus I found earlier pictures where he had feathers on his hocks - Just a gorgeous thing he is. It is interesting that he has refinement to his look, too, as Isabeau was guessing a touch of Arab. Wouldn't surprise me if the sporting lines didnt' have a bit of Arab dropped in somewhere along the way, as many breeds do. Anywho, he's beautimous, and no, you hadn't inflicted photos of him on me before. *G* Wish I could beam over there and meet him. Thanks again for sharing!
Cheers ~

Date: 2004-08-29 04:17 pm (UTC)Me, I know notverymuch about horses, apart from recognising a handsome animal when I see it. But there will very likely be some other equinely inclined people there. And it's always good fun, horses or no horses, and a horse would probably only make it more so.
