We're kind-of sort-of looking at dogs. Not to take one, according to my parents. Just... looking.

Saw a lot of Kooiker-dogs today (Dutch breed). Cute, but many were a little too much lapdog and too little active-dog-to-take-cycling-and-riding kind. We liked the larger types though. The differences in behaviour were very diverse, from bouncing and licking "Hi-who-are-you-will-you-stroke-me" to very reserved "look-don't-touch" and one even growled at my father. Many, many dogs looked too heavy to us, in need of a little less food and a good cycle every day. The one dog that really appealed to us was usually found 'too thin' by the breed-organisation, according to the owner. It looked good and healthy to us.

Have now taken an interest in Icelandic dogs, which is a breed that's a nice size, a bit more robust than the Kooikers, of gentle character and very lovely. A huge advantage is that these are not hunters. Considering that any dog of us would spend time walking loose in and near the forest, a lack of tendency to disappear after the local wildlife is good.

They also look utterly adorably woolly as a pup... And they go well with cats, or so I'm told.

But we're not getting a dog. Apparently.
