A remnant from my western-style days, it's a colt bit, a snaffle with some leverage and a curb-chain. I use a milder bit at home, but Rowan tends to get a bit strong on the beach and I like my arms the length they are...
In hindsight he would have been okay on our 'home bit' which is an unbroken snaffle (I'm sure there's a better word for that). Last time he was *very* strong, but we were training alongside two studs then, so he probably was a little more trouble than he would otherwise have been.
