What to do, what to do?

arwen_luneSo my hair has stopped being any sort of style except 'mop'. It's very blonde, over the ears layer length, and looks like shit. What shall I do?
* Cutting it shorter again is cheaper but I never seem to be able to explain to the hairdresser how I want it, with the result of their various interpretations of 'shorter'.
* Getting curls is more expensive, but I like having curls, and that way I can let it grow out again without the really awkward shapeless-ball-of-blonde-fluff effect.
