I have grown into the habit of making a 'theme cd' for holidays, camps and sailing trips. The nice thing is that if you play it often during the trip, the music connects itself to the memories and if you listen the cd later it'll bring back lots of things.

So, want to make one for the upcoming trip. With upbeat, accessible music so that a varied group of people (ranging from 18 to 60) can swing and/or sing along while they're cleaning things during happy hour. So far I have:

* Queen. Possibly 'We Will Rock You' or 'Crazy Little Thing'
* Chumbawamba - 'Tubthumbing'
* Blues Brothers - 'Everybody Needs Somebody'
* Tom Lehrer (what song? Suggestions?)
* Billy Connolly - 'Wellie Song' ('cause it cracks me up and because I've written it into the SG1 story..)
* Weird Al Yankovich (what song? Suggestions?)
* Ghostbuster theme? Not sure about this one. It's fun, but repetitive.

I could use some more well-known groups/songs to add here, silly or otherwise catching.

If I find lots of music I like I may make a music cd and a seperate comedy/silly songs cd, so go wild :-)

As it's getting close to Christmas, I'd be tempted to add the Spinners version of the Twelve Days of Christmas to the list... always gets me giggling!

Re Tom Lehrer, I'd suggest either 'Irish Ballad' or 'The Masochism Tango'. Or maybe 'Pigeons', but, er...there may be pigeon-lovers aboard - you never know!

My "travelling music" is normally Celtic folk. All because the skipper of the "Balder" of the Ymuider Zeilvaart was a huge Dubliners fan and played it loudly just after I stopped being seasick... There's something... right about John Sheahan fiddling away while the sailboat rides the waves.
