If he's lame you can't ride. I don't know why he is lame, but whatever it is won't improve by riding; the likelyhood of doing long-term damage is too great.
You might as well build your CV. (Organisational skills, dealing with the public...)

I hope Rowan gets better soon! Is this still the lameness from the puncture wound a couple of weeks ago? If it hasn't resolved, it probably needs looking at again :( Foot wounds can go on like this, but not having gone away can mean there's some infection festering in there that you want to deal with. It's possible that riding on a foot wound won't do any harm, and he'll tell you when it's sore, but probably not worth risking...
