Old friends and memories

I dreamt of my first horse last night. After we sold him, Roy had an accident with the next owner. Some fuck in a Jeep deliberately ran into him from behind. Right hind leg a disaster, operations, recovery - horse was never going to be able to do more than a bit of light recreational work. Was sold as 'companion horse'. I emailed once with the new owners, but it was very difficult for me to hear about how he had changed.

What I dreamt was that somehow he'd crossed our paths again and we bought him. I took him to the vet for X-rays because I wanted to know how the situation was and what he could do... don't remember if I heard the outcome in my dream, I just remember saying to the vet that if all he could ever do was be a handhorse (lead from another horse or the ground) then that was okay and I just wanted him to be with me and have a good life.

Now all I can think of is - where is he? How is he? Is someone fond of him as he deserves or is he standing somewhere without attention? Or he not even alive anymore at all? I want him back! Even if it is to only see him enjoy a good roll in the grass...

Sadly we have no way of having two horses so it's perhaps best if I don't go looking for him..

*hugs gently* Would you want to check up on him, just so you'd know he was okay? I can understand either way, really...

thanks.. I have kind of decided not to go looking, as the chance that he's not okay is quite high. 'Companion horses' that cannot be ridden have a high chance of not ending up terribly well long term. Since there is no way I could do anything if I did find him in a bad situation... It feels almost neglectful of me, but I think I might prefer not to know.
