Still not dead, II
Jul. 25th, 2005 10:09 amNewcastle - big big big big... especially as we were in Whitby just 2 days ago, where the entire town had run out and we were welcomed so warmly. Here it is also very welcoming but simply a lot bigger... and sadly we are mored in the arse-end of the quayside, about 2km away from the swing bridge.
I've signed up to go snowboarding tonight... never done that before, but I have my sealegs by now, never know how that may go. I think some other guys are also up for it, so that should be fun.
The fun thing here is the tide... 4 metres in Whitby, where you faced a vertical gangplank if you came back from the pub. Here the tide is 5 metres and our Indian neighbours (Tarangini) get to arrange the gangplank. Since they're a naval ship, they simply say "be in by 10:30, we can't maintain the plank after that." After that you're facing... well... a drop of several metres. Bit of a challenge *grin*
I'm currently in the BBC bus, listening to the local radiocast while it's being made from this very bus. Which is kind of cool.

Date: 2005-07-26 01:46 pm (UTC)There's a Canon bus here where you can enter tallship photos into a competition and get a free A3 printout of them. Quality is really good. If Mia comes along tomorrow morning, be sure she brings the memorycard with those lovely nighttime photos she made here. We can go by tomorrow morning.
