Have gone home a day early. Sleep patterns all messed up.

Parents have bought a new PC. This because their old one finally let up and died. So I'm looking forward to a few weeks of tech support as they get used their new setup. It's a nice, basic system from the local geekshop. Good choice that should serve them well, and the service is very good. They're now more state-of-the-art than me though, OMG Eee! Not that that's hard. This system is what, nearly 6 years old? With only very minor upgrading along the way.

Still happy with the laptop. Only disappointment is the battery. 90 minutes? Christ.

Damn repeater beep

(I should explain that last one I guess... one night some contractors were still at work well into my shift, and the fire alarm had been switched off because they were working with steam in the engine room. When you switch off the alarm you get a repeater beep (every 10 seconds) to say 'by the way, the fire alarm is off'. This beep is on the bridge. The bridge is where I sit at night, camped out in a deckchair in front of the open hatch. For 8 hours long. The engineer came up to switch it off before breakfast and said I looked a little frazzled..)
